What are your hobbies and/or interests?
I love food and travelling! As a kid, I would go into the kitchen and mix a bunch of ingredients, pretending to be the host of a cooking show. If I didn’t pursue healthcare, I would have loved to go to culinary school or host my own travel food-tasting or cooking show! For now though, I have a small YouTube channel where I document my life as a pharmacy student with occasional recipes. If you’re curious, my username is @armitta.
What does CAPSI mean to you?
CAPSI is a safe community that connects pharmacy students all across Canada. It provides opportunities for us to grow as leaders and advocates while working with a variety of people. Through CAPSI, I’ve had so many opportunities to meet new people and promote health and wellness in the community. It feels incredible to be part of a passionate and motivated group of like-minded people who are pushing our profession forward, even as students yet to graduate.
What is something unique you bring to the council?
I have a background in education from 7 years of working at Kumon with students of all ages, volunteering for adult ESL classes through MOSAIC, as well as private tutoring. These experiences have allowed me to sharpen my skills of effective communication and ability to connect with individuals of different backgrounds. As the coordinator for CAPSI’s Community Education and Outreach Committee, I am able to use these skills to lead my team in developing effective outreach projects based on an understanding of the needs of our target population.
